I am writing to complain about the behavior of the bank staff at the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) branch at 54 Jatindra Mohan Avenue, Kolkata 700005. On August 25, 2023, I visited the branch to operate my safety deposit box. The staff refused to print the agreement details on the Rs. 50 affidavit as an addendum to the new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules. When I asked them to quote me the RBI form number that has the new guidelines, they refused and told me that I would have to find it on my own. I live in the US and I am visiting Kolkata to take care of my ailing mother.
I understand that it is common sense that no individual can force another person to sign a blank affidavit. However, the bank staff threatened me that unless I signed the blank affidavit, they would not let me operate my safety deposit box. I am appalled by their behavior and I would like to know the names of the bank manager and the other bank employees involved so that I can file a formal complaint.
